Our assessment framework
A transparent explanation of the information behind an indicative offer—and why responsible valuation starts with the exact piece, not an automatic price promise.

Start with the right question
EncoreLuxe compares the exact identity, specification and condition of a piece with current demand and responsible resale evidence. Retail prices and live listings provide context, but neither proves what a buyer has paid or what a seller received.
The initial online figure is indicative because it relies on photographs and information supplied by the owner. A final purchase requires physical authentication and confirmation of condition, originality and completeness. If a material difference changes the figure, it is explained before the owner decides whether to proceed.
Practical framework
Brand, model, reference, size, date or production era, material, colour, configuration and identifying marks.
Construction, signatures, movement or hardware, materials and provenance are considered together. No single serial number or receipt proves authenticity.
Wear, damage, function, alterations, repairs and refinishing are assessed in the places that matter for that category.
Replacement watch parts, altered jewellery, recoloured leather and tailored fashion may affect collectability even when work is competent.
Boxes, papers, certificates, spare parts and receipts can support provenance and buyer confidence but are not universally required.
Current UK buyer interest, availability, seasonality and the likely cost and risk of onward resale shape a responsible direct offer.
Retail price is what an item costs new. Replacement value may reflect the cost of obtaining an equivalent. An asking price is what a seller hopes to receive. An auction estimate is a range before bidding and may exclude premiums. Consignment prices can be subject to commission and time. A direct offer is the net figure a buyer proposes, subject to stated checks.
These values answer different questions. Comparing them without fees, tax, insurance, return exposure, waiting time and condition creates false certainty. EncoreLuxe explains a direct-purchase figure rather than presenting it as an independent insurance or probate valuation.
Photograph the front, back, sides, base and interior in indirect daylight, then add category-specific details: references and dial for watches, hallmarks and settings for jewellery, or corners, handles, glazing and hardware for bags. Disclose damage, repairs and uncertainty.
Include the accessories still present and any service or repair history. Do not clean, polish, open or alter an item solely for photographs. Better information reduces surprises, but physical inspection remains essential before a purchase is final.
Availability, fashion cycles, collector interest, exchange rates, retail pricing and wider economic conditions can shift demand. A figure is therefore dated. It should not be treated as a guarantee months later or transferred to a visually similar piece with a different reference or condition.
EncoreLuxe does not invent public ranges where the available information cannot support one. Owners seeking a current figure can request a private review without charge or obligation.
Questions, answered
No. Item identity, photographs, condition and current demand are reviewed rather than reduced to one generic calculator result.
It is indicative until the physical item is authenticated and confirmed to match the submitted information.
A listing is an unconfirmed asking price. A direct buyer accounts for authentication, handling, resale costs, risk and the possibility that the item takes time to sell.
